I've been reading a few finale speculation threads. I'll be honest, none of the theories will make me a happy camper, but that's beside the point. The thing that worries me the most about some of these ideas is that they expect the season 5 finale to end on a cliffhanger.

Please, say it ain't so!

Honestly, at this point, I just want the show I've been hanging with for 5 seasons to tie things up so I finally know what happens to the characters I'm invested in. I don't want the emotional espionage of a cliffhanger, but I suppose it's still possible. I was really hoping the finale would tie up all the major plot points with regards to, at least, Dean and Sam, at the end of the finale so we could start fresh next season. Am I the only one who was expecting/hoping for that?

What do y'all think? Will it end on a cliffhanger or will things be pretty much neatly tied up? I'm thinking I'd prefer a season 2 type finale, but this isn't about what you'd prefer. It's more, what do you think we'll get? Has anyone heard from TPTB that it's gonna be a cliffie?

I'm leaving the comment box open if you want to express your feelings, but please, if you're going to include spoilers, put that in your subject line, thanks.

You thought I died or something, didn't ya? I know you did. I sometimes have to wonder myself.

Ah, well, that just means my life is pretty dull, and aside from being crushed under the weight of a hundred WIPs, I don't spend a lot of time doing anything that I imagine y'all'd be interested in. (Unless you care that I totally kicked Tony Horton's ass on the KenpoX DVD the other day. BWahahahahaah!)

Anyway, I just wanted y'all to know I haven't forgotten about the GayGen proposal.

Anyone who'd like to run with this idea is more than welcome. I think these are all awesome names for such a comm. I might even be inspired to write some Corbin/Sam fic for such a challenge, but I'm not the person to run it. Just the discussion is proving more than I have the time or desire to field. I'm more than happy out here on the fringes. /discussion.

[Poll #1435305]

Oh,and the mod of [ profile] queerlygen replied to my PM and has no problem with y'all doing a Supernatural specific community, in case anyone was wondering.
ht_murray: little girl, cheeks, blue rose (Default)
First, and totally off topic, please stop posting those freaking kruezer tweets, people. The dude is leeching fandom hits. He doesn't know anything. :P

Okay, so I promised y'all I'd think more about a possible GayGen Challenge community. And wow, a lot of things to consider. I PMed the mod over at [ profile] queerlygen to make sure it would not be a problem to start a Supernatural only community. Haven't received a reply yet, so I'll let you know.

I was reading some of that comms specifications about what could be in a Gen story. They would allow sex. The vibe I'm getting from the comments here is that explicit sex is the one thing we don't consider Gen. But I could be misinterpreting. I think to do this right, we need to get a working definition of Gen. So, there are options for what could and could not be considered Gen in the poll. Also, it's early, and my brain is not yet firing on all cylinders, so feel free to add more suggestions in the comments.

Some of you said you'd like to help out in this endeavor if I decided to do it. Still haven't decided if I will, but there's a question about how you'd like to be involved. Also, a friend suggested a sort of rotating modship, like taking turns hosting challenges and whatnot, keeping the challenge length short enough so as not to be overwhelming. I like the idea, so if you say you want to join as a mod, would you be interested in taking turns running the comm?

My feeling is that stories posted could have any number of pairings so long as at least one is same sex or transgendered. But that's my feeling. I want to know what you think. So answer away, and feel free to link, I guess.

I'm busy lately and purposely not posting so I can do away with the constant need to check my email and see if people have replied. I don't mean to alienate anyone, and most of you are probably used to this by now, but I have to say it anyway. I ♥ you all muchly.

So, here's the thing. Last year, after I finally started coming out of my two year long depression, I realized I'd really lost track of my health and fitness goals. I was doing really well getting back on track until I went and over-extended myself on writing commitments, and then I was back glued to my comp and stalking my inbox. I slacked off quite a bit, and have been feeling crap in general.

Now, I find myself over-extended again, but I absolutely refuse to let myself slide again. I can't honestly say if my depression is triggered by lack of exercise and physical activity or if it's the other way around, but I know that I always feel better about myself when I maintain a solid workout schedule.

So, anyway, I've been doing really well with that for the last three weeks or so, and I was all excited to post about it and share my success and inspiration with y'all, and then a certain bigbang fic was posted. The response to the fic made me feel like exercise and fitness were not safe topics to post about anymore, so I just haven't been posting. If I'm honest, I loved the story except for the part where Jensen is a loser who can't get his life together without Jared, and Jared's a total ray of sunshine who changes the world just by being in it. LOL. One of the fandom cliches that really makes me stop reading fic, I'll tell you. But hey, the story was from Jensen's POV, and I can sorta see where Jared had issues that Jensen just didn't see because, well, he was dealing with his own in an exceptionally self-deprecating manner. So, I actually loved the story. I'm sorry some people were hurt by it.

My options at this point seem to be, just shut up and do my thing without posting about any of it, and let you all sit and wait for the stories to pop up, since the only way I can maintain the workouts and the writing is to not post about fandom or anything else. Or make a filter for the stuff that might bother y'all and let you all choose your own destiny. So, here's the polly.
Leaving comments off until I can get a chance to answer my previous ones. You know you can always PM or email me. There's even a handy contact form on my profile page, providing that you have a flash player or don't have flash blocked.

Erm, I just realized I forgot to make it so I'm the only one who can see the results. So, I'm turning comments on and leaving them screened in case you want to be off the filter and don't want anyone to know. Also, if you do not indicate one way or the other, I'll automatically leave you off.

I'm actually editing our bigbang fic. Yay! :S Anyway, as I go about it, I like to break it down into nice, beta-sized chunks that I think will approximately be the actual post-sized installment. As I'm looking at this fic, trying to find a place that's both at least a little hooky to get the reader to click on the "Next" link and also at a decent spot to make a good-sized post, I'm reminded of a post I read just after Dreamwidth started out in which a reader was lamenting the fact that people posting on Dreamwidth and cross-posting to Livejournal still had to break down their stories into little bits in order to fit in a Livejournal post, even though you can apparently fit 50000 words in a Dreamwidth post.

So, now I'm thinking. I haven't really asked my cowriter about this, so this might all be moot and come with a giant Hell to the NO stamped across it. But here's what I'm thinking. So far, our bigbang draft is 27000 words, with all my clumsy editing notes in it. And I'm thinking with all the rewriting it could easily cross 30000 and if I'm really inspired with the backstory could actually hit 40 or 50 by the August 12 postdate. I could theoretically post the whole thing on Dreamwidth in one post and link back to it here.

Problem is, most of the readers are primarily on LJ. So, I'd want to have comments only on LJ. I could do that by a)putting the comment link in manually and linking it back to a comment page on LJ or b)posting the last bit of story on Livejournal and having people comment there. All of this depends on what readers prefer. I kinda like stories that are broken up into parts, because it gives me a good place to take a pee break and not have to find where I left off. But I guess some people actually hate that. So, here's where you can tell me what you think.

Also, I'm in the middle of compiling a soundtrack, which is constantly evolving as I rework scenes and see the tone change. Ever since I first discovered mp3 player widgets I've wanted to experiment with putting songs into the story that way, so the reader could play the song I'm actually hearing in my head as the scene unfolds. Only problem is, those widgets take up a lot of character space, so drastically decrease your available space for words. So, I don't think I'd do it on LJ. But maybe on dreamwidth? I haven't actually checked to see if those things even work on Dreamwidth so that might be a lost cause anyway. But the major drawback I see is that not everyone reads at the same speed, so they'd have to be able to shut the stupid thing off if they are reading along and come to the next widget before the last one is finished playing or the widgets would have to be spaced out quite a bit to assure there's no overlap. Some people just like to download and listen to the songs whenever they want to, but that doesn't always end up being the way I envisioned it when I wrote it, and well, it's illegal, ya know? I feel a twinge of guilt, yes I do.

So, um, there's a question about that, too.

Hopefully the polly thing works, if not just a quick opinion dump about word length and fic music would help me out a lot. I'm about to unplug from the internet and go somewhere less distracting to write. Sorry for the spammage. :P

I got my new computer! And I love it. I mean, considering what I was working with, pretty much anything new would've seemed like a leap into the space age, but it's amazing to me.

I want to cover it in Adam Lambert Wallies and stickers. I wanted to name it Adam, too, but it insists it's name is Skippy. Now, I will forever think of Adam Lambert as Skippy. How endearing. I hope he's not offended.

Erm, so at the moment, I'm deeply entrenched in making backup disks and installing all my favorite programs. Wish me luck. Then, I'll probably take a nap and come back tonight to write y'all some porn. I believe I left the boys sticky and covered in watermelon juice and Jared was getting all growly. Woohoo!

And damn, I just saw a fic with Lucifer!Dean. Hate it when someone beats me to the damned punch.

Anyway, I have Monday off! First time in the history of ever that they've given us Memorial Day as a holiday, which means I have two more days for writing. Tell me what I should write first.

Um, so, shall I try another poll?

[Poll #1404697]

Huh, okay, so apparently polls actually do work for me. But the previews do not. Way to find out the hard way.

ETA: Cyberlink DVD suite... useful program or bloatware? To delete or not to delete, that is the question.

We gather not to bury Caesar, but to...

Angst over our bigbang story and how it ties in to the show.

[ profile] chocca2 and I have been tossing ideas back and forth for awhile now. Basically, the story is written, but the backstory is not. And given the way that Season Four ended, it's very important to us that we keep Sam a sympathetic character, despite what we plan for him to do in the story. So, the backstory, to me, is important. And I do plan to infuse it into the story once I figure out what it is.

So, we need help from all of you, since you'll be the ones reading it. Okay, so most of you probably won't given that it's a Gen story, but you can still help us with the characterization, or at least keep us from doing something you'll absolutely hate.

I tried to create a poll, but it would not post for me. I sent the code to my dear cowriter, and she posted it for me. Yay!

So, um, Everybody loves a poll! You know you wanna clicky. Only a slight spoiler for the story. Spoilery if you haven't seen all of season 4 yet. Also, some fun speculation questions about SPN that you might like even if you don't read the story .

C'mon, you know you wanna! Please? *puppy eyes*

It's open to everyone, since the reveals and artists are already in place. Feel free to peek.

Anyone have any advice as to why the polls sometimes work and sometimes not? I've created a huge poll, and when I post it, all the options show up, but no voting buttons or boxes. I've tried everything I can think of... suggestions? Anyone?
ht_murray: little girl, cheeks, blue rose (Default)
Okay, this is the shortest poll ever, but here's the thing. When I first started reading fic, I kept seeing the term "Jossed," and in the context it was used, I deduced that Jossed meant the canon of the show established by Joss Whedon completely trounced on someone speculation and made their fic AU. I figured the same when I first started seeing the term Kripke'd floating about. That the show canon developed in a way that was unlike the writer's speculations and thus made their fic AU. I assumed it was like something being "trumped" in Euchre.

Lately, I've been seeing Kripke'd being used as a term to assert that the show canon has "copied" a writer's fictional canon, thus making it appear as though the show writers borrowed it from said fic writer or read said writer's mind.

Personally, I'm confused. What do people believe the term Kripke'd means? And where would one go to find out the actual meaning?

[Poll #1342498]

ETA: Because I'm at work and cannot reply to everyone, it would appear that the two words are antonyms. Which leads me to ask A)Why? and B)So what is teh synonym of Jossed? FYI, I will never be able to read them as synoyms, LOL, though it's exactly this confusion which has prevented me from every using the word, though it would appear I've been Kripke'd my fair share of times. And that still doesn't sound right. I think this is one time when maybe the urban dictionary took their defintion from common use rather than actual, but that's my guess.

Oh, and I had to construct this post in about five minutes, so I'm sure there are better ways to word the poll and the answers, but um, read my mind... *sends psychic vibes*
