I've been reading a few finale speculation threads. I'll be honest, none of the theories will make me a happy camper, but that's beside the point. The thing that worries me the most about some of these ideas is that they expect the season 5 finale to end on a cliffhanger.

Please, say it ain't so!

Honestly, at this point, I just want the show I've been hanging with for 5 seasons to tie things up so I finally know what happens to the characters I'm invested in. I don't want the emotional espionage of a cliffhanger, but I suppose it's still possible. I was really hoping the finale would tie up all the major plot points with regards to, at least, Dean and Sam, at the end of the finale so we could start fresh next season. Am I the only one who was expecting/hoping for that?

What do y'all think? Will it end on a cliffhanger or will things be pretty much neatly tied up? I'm thinking I'd prefer a season 2 type finale, but this isn't about what you'd prefer. It's more, what do you think we'll get? Has anyone heard from TPTB that it's gonna be a cliffie?

I'm leaving the comment box open if you want to express your feelings, but please, if you're going to include spoilers, put that in your subject line, thanks.

I'm the only one to vote so far? LOL

The finale will probably tie up the apocalypse storyline but leave us hanging when it comes to what happened to Sam and Dean. That's what I think, anyway. I mean, Kripke might be jumping ship but he's still an evil bastard, right?

I know what you're saying, and that's what I'm worried about. I mean, someone else in another thread brought up Kripke saying that he was ending it the way he would've ended it if there were only five seasons. I'd like to hope he wouldn't have left us hanging after five years. But then, I'm just a giant wuss. LOL. I hate cliffies. I'll even stop reading fic if the author puts one at the end of every single chapter. LOL.

I hear you! It'd be real nice to end this chapter with something more optimistic (since they've, you know, been dealing with the end of the world and all), but I don't think they'll be that kind.

Haha, and after all the whining/ complaining I've done. Hahaha. I have every reason to expect optimism, right? :P

No, but I want to be - what do you know? PM me if it's not okay to share here. :)

That's why I wanted to know if Tracy is spoiled. Because I've been talking speculations based on the spoilers for the past two weeks and I have many theories but are all based on the spoilers.

I can PM you though if Tracy tells me if this is spoiler-free zone.

I'm a spoiler glutton! Mainly because I've yet to see anyone get it right on the money with this show. :) I have some theories, but that's half the fun for me. :)

Well, I didn't say it was spoiler free-but if you'd be so kind as to put spoiler in your subject line, it would save people some angst, I'm sure. Or the PM option works, too.

I don't actually know. LOL. I've read somethings, but nothing that gives me any actual clue might happen. But isn't that the nature of spoilers? I guess maybe you can PM me. I'm not afraid of spoilers.

None of the spoilers out right now reveal too much. I'm as spoiled as you can possibly be and everything is pretty much being kept under wraps. GRRRR. I know as much as been said at the TWoP spoiler thread: here (televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3132392&st=29655)

Add that onto Jensen's JiB comment about the end of the season. I talk about it here (http://maboheme.livejournal.com/194540.html)

Any of that new to you?

Hmm, the TwoP link didn't work for me, so I dunno.

I didn't see anything too new in the other link, though I skimmed a lot because there was triggery discussion that still makes me rage, LOL.

(I doubt this next part is spoilery, but if you're a true spoilerphobe, skim on by.)

Erm, I guess as far as what you said in the post, I hope you're right with regard to the separation so long as it's not separation because of a cliffie in which somebody's fate is in the balance, if that makes sense.

I'm expecting cliffie as this has been the MO and I think K. may really want his our heroes going out in blaze of glory moment. Being SPN they have numerous ways to bring them back. I just really don't want Dean/Lisa next season and I suspect we may get that, but really it's all speculation.

One of the things that has kept me coming back is the constant surprise. No matter the speculation show has managed to add twists I could not see from miles away. This is a rare thing for me in any show.

Meep! Season 2 finale wasn't too cliffie-like, so I know they can do a non-cliffie ending. And I've always been petrified of the 'blaze of glory' speculation.

*bites nails* I'll be honest and say I don't have much hope of enjoying any of it based on last week, but from the one or two scriptwriting sources I've scoured, I doubt we actually know anything. There are still a bunch of yes/no scenarios to be played out before the final yes. I can only hope we're being led astray at this point.

Me too! I could totally handle a take on the world western style epic battle, but I'm pretty tired of the angst and in-fighting. And for me the boys duking it out as condoms has never been my favorite scenario.

I can only hope we're being led astray at this point. Yes to that!!! K & co are good at that and I hope this finale proves it. Last weeks ep for me was a disappointing lead in to a finale. I liked it, I just wasn't excited - you know?

After this Season, I don't trust these writers as much as I can throw them so I'm definitely taking what they said about wrapping up this storyline with a grain of salt. And obviously, things had to be reconfigured for a Season 6 but I still think they will actually tie up this five-year plot. And that would mean no cliffhanger from it.

So, what I'm imagining is them leaving something open for Season 6 on a much smaller scale. Say, Horseman Death still being out there. Or, Bobby's soul at risk. Something that carries over but is separate from the apocalypse/Lucifer.

At least that would be my spec.

See, that's what I was hoping, too, but so many people expect a cliffie. I guess I feel like I missed something. How do you tie up a five year arc with a cliffie?

Urgh.

I guess if I stop posting about spn, that'll just mean I stopped watching. LOL.

I'd like a season two-esque ending; one that ties up the apocalypse crap and let's us know what's coming in season 6, but I have a feeling it will be a cliffe:(

Ugh, I agree, but I hope you're wrong about the cliffie. I don't want that so much! :P

And for some reason, you're on the list of people for whom I do not get notifications from ever. They used to go to my spam box, now I just flat don't get them. There are at least four people on my flist who must think I don't know they exist. :S

I'm voting both!! I think the season 5 arc will be finished, but the aftermath of it will be a cliffhanger. Like, where do we go from here?

From: [identity profile] tru-faith-lost.livejournal.com
Haha, I won't hate that. Just so long as I'm not biting my nails all summer (or maybe 'til January, bleh) worrying about one of the boys or both being in peril, ya know?

And would you believe, I thought I rigged that poll so you could only pick one or the other. I'm clearly not up to date on poll lingo. LOL.

I'm praying for no loose ends. Because if it's a cliffie, it's going to be the cliffiest cliffie in all Cliffiedom and I don't think my heart could take it!

Exactly. I committed to watch for five seasons. I dunno if I wanna be manipulated into watching next season, especially if I hate the finale (which I have a feeling I might). I hate cliffies, anyway. I'll stop reading fic if it ends on a cliffie every chapter. LOL. I think we're at the point where we need a little resolution after all the nail biting we've done these past two seasons.

LOLZ, but you love my bb as much as I do, so I know you'd fix him and do him justice. I can't say I have the same faith in TPTB, so if it's gonna be ruined for me, I'd like to know up front, not have to wait months and months to find out. Haha.

At this point, I don't think I'd be biting my nails over a cliffie. Don't think I'm invested enough for that to happen anymore. Seems a bit like I'm just going through the motions with show, waiting to see how it ends and what will happen to the characters I once fell in love with. The last few episodes have been wonderful for me and I've really enjoyed them but I've also begun to watch in a more a causal way in which I don't focus too much on them getting the characters, plot or continuity right. This probably sounds weird but I actually find the characters to rather, I'm not sure, flat? Not flat, but like something is missing that was there before (perhaps it's the quality of the writing that has gone down)...

Uhm, the point... the point is, well, the points is that I love the characters because I used to love them and I love the show because I used to love it and, while I'm happy to be watching, I don't think I care deeply enough to be bothered by a cliffie. I'm completely spoilerfree but I'm hoping for it to be tied up. In some ways it might seem a bit rushed (due to the fact that they pulled the whole "random plot point" twist two episodes ago) but on the hand they've been dragging this storyline out forever and I don't really see where they can go with it from this point. It needs to be over so that we can start fresh. It's tired. Plus, I've heard gossiping about the show not returning till next year, so a cliffie would be annoying. Also, starting fresh creates more incitement for new viewers to join. Conclusion: No idea.

Wow, sorry for going on about nothing. I've been studying for exams all day and my brain is mush :/

...

*hug-attacks!*

I'm so with you. The real reason I'm asking about the finale is, I don't really think I want to hang around for season 6, and I don't want to be coerced into watching it because there's a huge cliffie at the end of season 5. This time last year, or in year's past, I couldn't help myself but speculate about how things would go, and I was on pins and needles up to the finale.

Now, I don't really believe it can be nearly as good as I'd want it to be, so I can't even be bothered to speculate. I still have hope, though. But it's fading fast. :/

I voted with what I think will happen rather than what I want to happen, especially based on how much it seems like they still need to cover in so little time.

I totally get that. I'm just kinda....NOOOOO, because until I started reading the spec threads, I hadn't even considered that they'd leave us with a cliffie at the end of this season, not with all the talk of finishing the arc. Now, I have a feeling you're right, and that's exactly what they'll do.

Doesn't mean it will work, though. The finale will have to make me a very happy camper for emotional espionage to work. LOL.

Honestly, I don't know.
On the one hand, I love evol cliffies. On the other hand, Show rarely delivers after, so...
The thing is, I have no idea how they're going to keep going after the Apocalypse... *shrugs*

I have no idea what comes next either. I was kinda hoping I could stop watching at the end of the season, but if they pull the emotional espionage card (evol cliffie) I may have to cut a bitch. Especially if it doesn't come back til midseason as some people are speculating.
