So, I dragged hubby out to the movie. It didn't cost me the 12 bucks it cost Tracer, though I would've paid that for my boy any day. I think I shall write my theatre and email and tell 'em they're gypping my baby out of his due numbers. lol.
I was spoiled going in. Yes. Yes, I was, and kicking myself for it, too, because I sooo didn't want to know, and to be honest, I considered not going. But when else will I get to see Jensen in 3-D? And when will there a be a movie my hubby and I can both agree on seeing. (He saw the trailer for Twilight and thought he'd like to see that... I'm just saying.) Slasher films we can both watch. Did I ever mention that when I met him he had like three bookshelves full of slasher films? And not the kind you buy a the store. Oh no, the kind you buy a blank tape and tape four movies a piece on. I swear, there are over a thousand, easy. And he can tell you where every gory scene is and the exact second to pause the VCR to get the best visual.
So, yeah, this was right up his alley.
I was afraid I wasn't going to get to see it in 3-D, because I knew this theater had 3-D capability, but every listing I saw for the movie only said, My Bloody Valentine, not MBV 3-D. We went anyway, and I've never been happier to pay a 2.00 upcharge. *nods*
The movie itself was exactly what it was supposed to be a campy, gory, slasher movie. So, of course, hubby was in Heaven.
Me?
Has anyone else noticed that 3-D seems to add a twinkle effect to everyone's eyes? Cuz I could not stop staring at Jensen's eyes. Good lord, if he's pretty on my flat screen, and in person, he's absolutely stunning in 3-D with the twinkling eyes of glee. I want his twinkly 3-D eyes on every icon I ever use. I'm just saying. Someone needs to figure out how to do 3-D web graphics, cuz I'm so there.
The answer to your question
unplugged32 is... No. I couldn't tell. There just weren't enough shots in good enough light to be able to tell if those were actually Jensen's legs in the miner costume. The pants were kinda baggy anyway. But I did ogle really hard, and nope, couldn't say. ETA: I've been told it's pretty obvious when he's chasing Sarah through the mine, but to be honest, by then I was more worried about whether she hurt his face when she whacked him running out of the house. LOL. So, I guess it was visible at some point, but I completely missed it. Will have to watch again. For shame.
So, um, no big surprise twist for me, because like I said, I was totally spoiled for the ending. I thought I would hate it, but when it came time, all I could think was, "The rat bastards deserved everything they got." I actually called the Sheriff dude a cheating rat bastard in the theatre. That was the storyline I hated most, that Sarah said "I love you," at the end to that cheating bastard. He so didn't have me convinced he gave a rat's ass. He was a total sleaze who was just relieved his mistress bit it before he had to pay for the abortion, and I hope he doesn't make it through surgery. LOL. Everyone in that town was skeezy. I think they went out of their way not to show more than the one innocent kid in the whole thing.
I read where someone was wondering why Jensen always gets to play the crazy but not the maniacal. I dunno, but that scene of him stomping through the mine with the pickaxe and taking out the light bulbs one at a time totally smacked of The Shining to me. Is it bad that I was like "Go, baby, go!" LOL.
He totally owned the role. I can't say enough good things about him, but you all expect me to gush anyway, so I won't. Just know that I thought he was gushworthy in every possible connotation. *nods*
I have to say, we caught a matinee, so the theatre wasn't overly packed. We didn't get that contagious mob atmosphere that I'm sure would've been awesome, but we did get quite a good earful of the people behind us. There was a group of young guys, probably just old enough to get in, and they were all like, "I don't even know what this movie's about. It's all about the 3-D. Gotta see this." And then when the housekeeper bought it, they were all like "And the Law right in front 'the house." Several, "dumbass!"-es later, they were like, "yeah, you go after yo baby mama," as Axel went down the alley looking for Megan or whatever her name was. It was really amusing. Oh yeah, and when the part came where we were supposed to put our glasses on for the first time and they threw some effects at us, the group behind us was like, "oh yeah, now that's the bidness right there."
Ohhhh, it was just so amusing, because all my talk about Jensen and this movie has been with fangirls, and to hear this completely new and non-fangirly take on things. Well, it kinda made me really glad I sucked up the change and went out to see it. We get so clouded in our perspective sometimes just watching the show. I'd definitely go see it again. Dan's already suggesting we pick up some of his friends and go next weekend. That makes me all kinds of happy.
Saw a couple good trailers while I was in the theatre. The Last House on the Left looked freaky as hell. I saw Jared's trailer, too, but only could recognize him in about two of the shots. I guess they're promoting that one mostly on the franchise and the Jason name.
Anyway, it's good to see both our boys working and getting their faces out there in front of non-fandom types. I don't care what your flavor is, if you've been watching Supernatural, then you can stand to go see this movie and pay homage to the boy who dragged me here kicking and screaming and won't let me go. LOL. If nothing else, go for the twinkly eyes. I wouldn't lie to you. And if you love slasher flicks, there's nothing not to love with this one. I've seen plenty, and they're not even really my thing, but I can certainly respect it for what it is. So, yes, go. And then go again. And save your 3-D glasses... cuz they're dope.

Axel was a douche and he deserved to get lockjaw from a rusty instrument and well that kid didn't look ten but he had blonde hair and neither Axel or Sarah did damn it..... hint hint.

Totally want Tom to go back and blow up the mind so the entire town falls in it like the Hellmouth. And then, ya know, his demons will be defeated, and he'll be all cured and live happily ever after.
So says I.

It also sets up the perfect sequel, Tom comes back for his kid, and to kill Axel and Sarah for keeping the kid hidden from him.

I got jipped apparently everybody else got the trailer for Jared's movie but me. The Haunting in Connecticut trailer freaked me out more than The Last House on the Left, but that's probably because I've spent a lot of time in old houses in Connecticut.

Date: 2009-01-18 04:04 am (UTC)Axel was a complete ass hat and deserved the damn pick axe to the gut. His son looked nothing like him, so I'm totally on board with it being Tom's kid. I went into the movie being spoiled, but Jensen completely blew me away at the end where he just owned the crazy and became Harry. The way he cocked his head at Axel and said that Harry was there? That gave me goose pimples. Course, when he started smashing lights? Yeah, definitely made things a whole new kind of awesome.

I thought I would hate him as the killer, (which is funny cuz I'm always rooting for some evil!Dean) but God, he made me so hot with the crazy eyes and the light bulb smashing. I actually leaned over to my hubby and said, "That's my boy.eeeeeeeee."
He thinks I'm a total freak.

Date: 2009-01-18 07:17 pm (UTC)The important thing is, YAY for Jensen getting out there - his first big screen movie - making himself known to the people outside the CW audience. Also, I'm really proud of him for taking a complex role, for daring to play the bad guy. Which leads to say that in the end, even if his movie is not better than Jared's, I have to say his role is (unless Jared's character turns out to be a surprise).
I have way more to say, but pc ate it.
Love!

Date: 2009-01-18 07:54 pm (UTC)I have a feeling this movie won't make more than Jared's unless the 3-D really is that big of a draw, but it's not the movie's fault, and definitely not Jensen's, just the fact that it's a huge franchise and everyone's heard of Jason.
But yes, I think Jensen made a good choice, because no one's really heard of the old version, and so he can kinda own this role and anything that comes after will be compared to his standard. That's awesome to me. But it's really hard for him to disappoint me. *nods*

I have to agree with you on the Axel thing. I disliked him from the beginning when they were "teenagers" and he was a jerk so by the time he was sheriff and cheating on his wife I was hoping he'd get the pickax right to his little deputy (if you know what I mean).
I didn't get spoiled so I didn't see the end coming. Once it was revealed that Tom was a raving psycho I went back and tried to remember if the killer miner had bowed legs. I couldn't decide one way or the other. I'll to see it again so I can focus more now that I know what I'm looking for.
I get non-fangirl reactions from Drew when I need a non-clouded perspective. He didn't realize why I wanted to see the movie until we saw Tom the first time. He leaned over and whispered that I didn't tell him I was coming to "get my fix" and now he felt dirty. He did enjoy the movie though.
I'm glad you and Dan went. It made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy that you did something nice together.

Yeah, it's still a big question mark whether it's going to play in Indonesia so my sis DL-ed it and I got cross eyed watching the blurry dark thing but still worth seeing! I don't get the twinkly eyes, though, and I certainly will watch it on screen if or when it shows here. :D
My, my, my. My poor baby. And I agree with you so much about Sarah's I love you. What the--? My boy gets traumatized and has a split personality and others get to be happy? *cries loudly*
Btw, I heard about this term and I agree. This is more like a psycho thriller instead of a horror movie.
