Randomness, writing, fandom, blah, blah...
Jan. 6th, 2009 04:01 pmI'm not weighing in on wank or LJ closing. Cae sura, sura, but I do find it amusing to watch from the sidelines... y'know, if I cock my head and squint. Oops, I said cock. *blushes*
Man, this writing thing is getting out of hand. Of the fics I sold in
fics4books I've started posting two, and I have no idea when they'll be completed, but at least I've hit the 5000 word mark which was the minimum. I'm committed to start the rewrite and completion of Crop Circles now, as well. What I really need to do is finish up Sin Nombre in one chapter or so, take down Vestiges, cuz I have no idea where I'm going with the plot in that, and pour my energy in "Nightblindness 'verse" until that's finished, then come back to write Cracked and a few installment in the Forgiven and Redeemed 'verse before tackling Crop Circles, cuz that one is a monster.
But what do I do? I sit down one day over my vacation and watch Overboard and think OMG! that would be an awesome, awesome J2 story. Do I just keep this to myself? No. I sign up to write it over at
whenboymeetsboy. *is a dumbass* But that's not even all, because
j2_everafter has a thingie going on, and before the claiming started, I had decided not to claim anything, but when I was looking through the list... okay, so maybe I signed up to write A Far Off Place but I can already say with fair certainty that ain't gonna happen. I have no original twist planned, and I don't see the point of just changing the names, ya know? Which would be fine, no harm, no foul.
Except then I was discussing the prompt
ysbail claimed for that challenge and worked out a plot I'm kinda hankering to write about time travel and lost love, and well, complete angst.
And the very next day, I set myself down to write one of my many already started projects, and left the tv on. They were showing Subject Two on the Sundance channel. I turned around and glance at it during one key scene, and I couldn't stop watching. (Okay, I totally get the reviews on IMdB. This is either your thing or not, definitely not an action thriller or anything like that.) But now I have this huge craving to write Antichrist!Sam, loses the war but doesn't die, goes into hiding somewhere in the Rockies, gets lonely up there and decides he'd like his big brother to keep him company, only the Anti!Christ is kinda immortal and Dean isn't... cue Sam dragging a refrigerator up a mountain behind a snowmobile... Okay, so maybe I just have this sick desire to see Sam kill Dean a hundred times in one movie just to stop his suffering. Thing is, I can't figure out a happy ending for that. I'm not sure there is one. But you know,
spn_j2_bigbang is opening again real soon. I vowed never to do that again, because it's just too much stress for me, but... Dean writhing in agony and begging Sam to kill him... can't get that image out of my head. I'm a sick, sick puppy.
Ah, well, gotta get ready for work now. I hate that we have meetings every week. They complain about us making overtime, but they make us come in half an hour early at least once a week for some meeting, which wouldn't be so bad, except it's the worst possible time to try to get from my house to work traffic wise. *shakes fist*
And
vanae honey, I'm sending you hugs. Don't feel lonely, sugar. *smooshes*
ETA: Just my opinion, but Jensen going on Chelsea Lately is probably a really bad idea... unless he plans to wear his Jare Bear pajamas.
ETA2: Go and take this pairing survey for Laura .
ETA3: Cowrite anyone? *headdesk

Date: 2009-01-06 11:04 pm (UTC)Wonderful - because I want to read it ... and you'd do a far better job than me.
And BigBang again...
And to think, not too long ago, you were considering giving up writing altogether *g*
In Overboard, tell me - is Jensen Goldie Hawn, or is he Kurt Russell with a load of incorrigible kids? (I have to admit I see Jensen as the spoiled little rich
girlboy but you may have a totally different take on it).And ... OMG.
Sam killing Dean over and over again ... how many death scenes can you get in one fic? Well, you could set a record.
TBH, if you did that, I'd imagine the Reapers giving up coming to collect because they'd know it's temporary and they've seen enough of that damn cabin for an eternity. And there are other people in the world dying, you know? I mean, why should they be wasting their time on someone for who death isn't permanent?
I am reminded of that bit in Highlander where Connor loves a lifetime with Heather and she dies of old age while he holds her and Queen sings 'Who wants to live forever?'. Damn, that made me cry when I was about 14 - or however old I was. Probably would have the same effect now if I let it.
*sigh*
I was going to sit and write tonight - got sidetracked after 300 words ...

Date: 2009-01-06 11:11 pm (UTC)Oh, God, that scene in Highlander totally fueled my lifelong obsession with Queen. That was the only good Highlander movie, though. Why couldn't they keep that going?
And the thing with Subject Two, is the dude (who'd be the Sam character) actually is working on an immortality serum of sorts, but things keep going wrong. He can raise people from the dead but can't give them any quality of life. It's really sad and tragic, but in a way, I kinda sometimes maybe sorta see that kind of relationship with Dean and Sam, where they are each other's whole lives and how sad that really is. I mean, what if they had each other forever but Sam was evil and Dean couldn't feel anything? *sobs* Of course, maybe Castiel had a hand in Sam losing he war and has given Dean some kind of token of his appreciation that Sam doesn't know about, or maybe Castiel owes Dean something... There could, you know, be some kind of redemption if I didn't care about jumping a wee tiny shark or two. (And here I was just telling someone this morning that I delete the next person who said "jump the shark", lol).
Well, I dunno if any of this stuff will get written, but I so want to write them all.
I originally thought Jensen for the Goldie Hawn character, but he's always the bitch in fic. I thought it might be fun if it was Jared, and if he was only a bitch because he's totally repressed. I also find it kinda ironic that Kurt Russel's character was named Dean...

I'm excited!! Yay! It goes so much faster with two people. Though, I hope you're kinda working on other things, too. It's best to have more than one thing working so you don't get too antsy waiting on each other. LOL.

Date: 2009-01-06 11:49 pm (UTC)I'd totally offer to help with a co-write, but I fear I won't be very useful if it's Sam/ Dean related. I don't think I'd do them any justice. Can't find their voices, ya know? Which sucks, cause I plotted out a whole story, but as soon as I started writing I went, "no...this just sounds flat" and thus it was abandoned after about four paragraphs.

Well, ya know... I don't know if it's allowed, and the February 14 deadline is looming, but if you wanted to attempt Overboard with me... that's J2. LOL. No Sam or Dean involved. Haha.

Now though, it looks like there will be plenty to indulge in. I'm glad that you're writing and that Crop Circles is on the horizon. You know how I feel about that fic.

Oh, and I just got your PM. The other fics are posted on ff.net as they're Gen and mostly WIP. I don't like to bug my flist with WIPs if I can help it. Your fic was the exception. I'm really sorry about that by the way. The second chapter is about ready, but the third and maybe fourth will need a little more time.
