Hopefully this is a quick, simple question.

If I have and .mp3 of a song saved on my comp, is there a way get just a snip of the song, maybe even record a fade at the end of the snip? I'd be happy with just being able to extract snips.

Help?

Windows Movie Maker if you don't wanna get an extra program for it. Just put the file on the audio track, cut it any way you want and add a fade.

Really? I've never used Windows Movie Maker. I tried a few times on my old comp, but it always said I didn't have the right codecs for the files I wanted to open. I shall definitely look into that, cuz... okay, yeah, like I need a new project. *headdesk*

Windows Movie Maker is your best bet. It's easy to use, comes bundled with the PC and can cut down mp3s so easily. You just load up the track and point and click where you want to cut. I do it for phone ringtones all the time.
