Heheh, reading over the bigbang signups, it looks like the third biggest pairing behind Sam/Dean and J2 is Dean/Castiel with a smattering of Jensen/Misha.

I'm not like a hard shipper, but it tickles me so much to see Misha represent in bigbang this year. I do loves him. I should do a meta on how much I think he adds to that dynamic if people would just get over having to split the spotlight a little. But I won't.

Also... I might have had a story accepted by Torquere press. . Not ready to rejoice, but it is a good feeling.

I assumed that Misha fics (and I guess Castiel, yeah, duh) would be the reason that they're opening up the challenge to Jared/Other and Jensen/Other, so it makes sense.

Personally, I hope for some imaginative Castiel gen fic (since it's impossible for me to ship Castiel no matter how hot he is... and I know that's just me) and for RPS not to overshadow SPN fics by too much. In the end I'm sure it'll take me a year to get through everything I want to read just like this time, but since I'm writing this ridiculously dark Sam/Dean and I know chasingtides is as well... well... I want to be able to finish my fic and bask in some things that are a little less intense, ya know? ;)

S4 makes that complicated. I will probably just be happy if not every fic is S4-inspired.

Oh, dude. We need a darkest story ever competition, cuz ours is... I don't even want to talk about it under flock. I want it to be a huge surprise, LOL. It's gonna make people bleed from their eyeballs.

You know, I was just thinking last night (cuz I still might do the Misha/Castiel meta thing) how strange it is that neither of them appears in fic very much at all EXCEPT as a romantic pairing. I mean, by now he's had probably almost as much screen time as JDM, so you'd think he'd at least be turning up in RPS as the onset Uncle Bobby or something, but he doesn't, and I think fandom's totally missing the boat by being afraid to write him for being afraid of the backlash from OTPers.

As to whether there's hate. OH baby is there. Makes my eyes go crossed. I've had people leave comments on my fic actually calling Misha buttface ugly just because I had the audacity to post fic with him in it on a comm that is about Jared/Jensen. (It was totally within the rules). If they'd read it, they'd know Misha's only in it as a catalyst between Jared and Jensen, but oh no, mention Misha and bitchslap city. People disgust me quite a lot, lol.

I might do the meta, but it would be based entirely on my observations and gut, and I'm pretty sure it would open me up to personal attack. Not that I'm afeared, but fielding comments on stuff like that can be exhausting. I'm lazy. LOL.

And hee! They want the story and are sending the contract. I'm tickled. I mean, it's only a short story, but it's being sold separately, as it's own entity, not part of an anthology, so it's a good credential even if no one buys it. LOL.

That's awesome that Misha/Castiel is getting a lot of love. For me personally though I can't get myself to ship Dean/Castiel. I love Castiel and I really want to, but the idea of Dean & Castiel sexin' it up, is just something I can't wrap my head around. Maybe I haven't read the right story. But I can totally see the appeal of the two though. And plus I do think people are happy for a little variety. Although nothing will or can replace Sam & Dean, its nice to mix things up. Variety is the spice of life.

I fully approve of Jensen/Misha though. =)

I can totally get people not shipping Dean/Castiel, but it kinda weird me out how Castiel barely even shows up in fic at all except as a romantic pairing with someone. I mean, I totally get the HAWT and the need to sex him up, and the chemistry is off the charts, but is that the only context he brings to the storyline? Not at all.

I can't wait for some more Castiel and Misha fic in a big showcase like this.

Oooh, I'd love to do the meta, because I think he brings so much to the table as both an influencing and balancing force in the tribe of J2, but that would kinda mean I'd have to meta also about what I think of our boys and how they present themselves, seem to be to me, which is totally setting myself up to spend hours defending my opinions, and like I told a_carnal_mink, I'm waaaayyy too lazy.

But if I ever did it, I might have to poke you for a read-through to see if I"m totally off-base in my perceptions.

We so need more Misha and more Castiel. I don't really understand why he isn't even written into J2 fics as like, the cool Uncle Bobby figure, the guru mojo dude everyone goes to for advice. I ADORE Castiel, and Misha by default. But I'm quite unable to look upon Castiel in a sexual context because you know, he's a frikking angel!! I could take Jensen/Misha as a side pairing to Jensen/Jared. What can I say, I'm a one OTP girl!

Haha, yeah, I know a lot of people can't stomach the pairing, and there's no reason they should have to, but I am a little perturbed at the complete lack of mention they seem to get as characters unless they're paired with someone. They're not paired with anyone in the show as of yet and not paired in real life, so why is it impossible to include them in fic except as a romantic interest? I think they're both intriguing and need way more stage time. *ducks rotten tomatoes*

I'd love to do the meta, but if I'm going to meta on what dynamic I think Misha adds to J2, that would require me to divulge my own secret perceptions and interpretations of both Jared and Jensen which... I dunno if I have enough energy to duck all those rotten tomatoes.

It's just, well, I think both boys have tells about them not being overly self-confident and self-trusting, (yes, even Jared) and I feel like Misha's this giant dork/guru that just seems to overflow with wisdom and self-confidence and charisma. I think both boys could totally gain a ton from him, and yet no one writes him in fic except as a romantic figure. ... ah well, again, only my perceptions. I totally don't need to do that meta, lol, but if you wanted to do it, I'd totally help you hash it out.

I am...not as enthusiastic as most because I lovelovelove Misha, but he is not tied to Castiel to me the way Jared and Jensen are to our boys, you know? And Castiel is an angel, and just... it's a huge logical leap IMO for shipping him with anyone. So I mostly just go, "Oh. That hot guy who plays that angel dude is back." *shrug* I just didn't go as crazy for him as most of the fandom I guess? But I wonder if that makes me a hater... and I think if people are spewing genuine vitriol that's sad. But I guess it's fandom and fandom will always have wank. :/

I lurve them both. He brings so much to the table. I'm a little sad that he isn't capitalized on more in fic. The Dean/Castiel fic is kinda almost an underground thing, mostly posted in its own comms, and I can totally understand people not liking the pairing, but they write him on the show just fine without pairing him with anyone. I don't see why he can only be in fics if he's paired with someone. We're totally missing out on an interesting character, imo.
