Um, Comments Disabled Again .

You know, yesterday I just kinda sat back shaking my head, because in my opinion, there was no way to stop it from happening. And if you don't know what "it" is, then it's not really important.

Of course, I have an opinion, but well, we know how well that goes over in fandom, so I didn't chime in and voice what appeared to be the majority anyway.

But here's my two cents. Regardless of how the pictures were obtained or whether you agree with that, (I don't) there's no way they should be reposted in a public forum. It's basically like the groundhog day scenario.You poke 'em til they come out of their hole, snap a few pictures of 'em looking like they just crawled out of a hole, and feel like, since you poked 'em and brought your camera, you're entitled to whatever personal celebrity you get for showing them and their shadow looking for the hole to climb back into. Whenever I see stuff like that, it makes me want to go in these people's journals and myspace's and facebooks, and blah, blah, find all their less than flattering pictures (most likely just posted for lulz) and post them on fan boards for the celebs to comment on.

He's not getting paid for any of that. He's not prepared for it. I bet all those girls who showed up made sure they looked their best for the occasion, and yet, I bet if any of them accidentally ended up in one of those pictures, someone asked them if it would be all right to post it or blacked them out. If not, I can bet they'd expect the person to take them down if they asked.

He's not getting paid for those pics. They aren't promoting him or the show, as far as I can tell. They don't tell a story. They're not especially unique. If I paid paparazzi, I wouldn't pay for those pictures. So, as I see it, the only reason to post them at all is for the person who took them to prove he/she/it was there. Not really something I'd be proud of at this moment. You know what, journals have a friends-locking, privacy function. That's where these pics belonged.

Next time there's a photobook project, I think we should all send pics of ourselves after we just get out of bed, or the way we look sitting here in front of our comps while we're ogling private pictures of them. Now, that's a show of support.

ETA: Um, there's a lot of hits on this entry that I can't really explain. Don't mind y'all stopping in, but, um, don't be afraid to say hi, or... I dunno, tell me I'm batshit crazy or whatever.

Yeah that's WAY too paparazzi and somewhat disrespectful...I mean if you put yourself in his shoes...you sure as hell wouldn't enjoy that happening...I get that they probably were excited but still...invasion of privacy folks. You wanna meet them that badly, go to a convention, don't bum rush the poor guy when he's on vacation.

I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that they found out exactly the day he was arriving. I mean, yeah, we all knew he'd be goin there on vacation, but he didn't say the exact day, did he? It's kinda scary.

Also, I personally think it's one thing to welcome an actor/singer whatever when they arrive in your country if they are there officially, for work, and that was not the case. Or, in case he is in the country for personal reasons, and you run into him, that's again another scenario.

But what happened was not right, at all.

I think maybe he actually did say the date. *facepalm* But people went through flight schedules and whatnot. I have no idea how you'd even go about that. People smart enough to figure out where and when he was gonna be should be smart enough to stay away or watch from a respectable distance. Just my opinion, though.

Or, even, like you said, arrange something formal and give him the opportunity to meet on better terms.

Hi hon ... and there was I thinking I'd avoided all wank when I was Lj-less ... goes to show what I know.

The thing about those pictures, and yes, my opinion is very similar to yours, but the thing about those pictures is that I know, in at least one instance, I saw his sister. Even if you could argue that he's a public figure (and even public figures are entitled to privacy), his little sister was just a girl wanting to spend some quality time with her brother .. didn't exactly start off well now, did it?

Why does a part of me insist on imagining Jared phoning Jensen and saying 'you should be sooooo glad you decided not to come with us, man. So glad!'?


ETA: Oh, and the thing about comments being disabled ... she said they would be if people weren't 'positive and happy and not complaining' (not quoting, just paraphrasing). To my that suggests she KNEW people would raise objections, she knew some people wouldn't like them being posted - AND SHE DID IT ANYWAY!!!

Anyway, I'll not say anymore. Was planning on relaxing this evening by writing, and adding more to this comment isn't getting fic written.

Have you finished your Christmas fic yet? Posted it? Have I missed it? Do I need to go looking?

Ckll said and did that with comments because the first post, earlier in the day, was riddled with negative comments. What's funny is she says that she disabled comments because 'some fans don't know how to behave themselves'. Wow, counter transference much?

I agrees times a billionty. And ya know, if someone else posts something that draws negative comments in that comm, she deletes the post. If she posts it, she just disables comments and says, the hell with ya all. It's the second time this week she's posted something that was good for nothing but wank and then said, "well, not my words," or "not my pics, just reposted" like that absolves her from adding to the wankage. Which is why I refrain from commenting in the threads. It's attention they wanted. It's attention they go. So, whatevers, though I'll admit I was just about to add something when she disabled the comments.

Noooo, Christmas fic isn't finished yet. I fail so hard. I keep adding onto what's already written instead of writing new. Though I did discover that Write or Die site, which is quite useful. I poke my head in there, crank out 500 words or so in like twenty minutes, and then come back here and flesh it out. Seems to be working.

And then you posted that rec in your rec journal last night, and I've spent all night and all day reading that verse, lol. I have to say, parts of it are weird,(like she paired Jensen and Sam and then Jared and Dean but never really had them fall for each other, it was just like she decided they'd be together so they are, so I don't really feel those pairings at all) but I'm too darned hooked to stop reading. LOL. You're a bad influence on me.

The post isn't even accessible anymore, unless it was restricted to members, in which case I wouldn't be able to see it anyway. (I left dean_sam several months ago after getting fed up with ckll's antics. -.-)

As always, I've come into the wank a step behind everyone else, but it's pretty clear what happened. Poor boy, getting hounded when all he and Megan wanted to do was just take a nice vacation. God knows he works hard enough for it. Respect, it is a good thing.

Yeah, I avoided that comm like the plague up until a couple months ago, but I kept getting linked to posts from there, so I figured I might just as well watch it myself. And for the most part, I don't have issues with it, but yes, seems like once a day or at least a couple times a week there's just needless asshattery.

Can't really protect ourselves from that anywhere, I guess.

And the whole situation with Jared is ridiculous, but yeah. I hope they at least brought him gifts or something. LOL.

ETA: I just checked, and I guess it's locked to members only. I saw some of the comments to the thread before she froze commenting, and there were a lot of comments from people I know wouldn't be caught dead in that comm, lol. So yeah, she don't like folks who are more intelligent and better spoken than herself to have an opinion.

Ha, I have no idea how anyone finds out stuff like where people are going on vacation... then again, half the time I don't even know what I'M doing.

Hell, I can't even find my own terminal at the airport, let alone someone else's, especially if I'm just guessing their city of origin, airline, flight number, gate, blah, blah, LOL.

Ah, so that's what the wank was about. It's funny, I don't even go to cons because the idea of them skeeves me out (not in general, I just can't imagine not being utterly embarrassed the whole time I was there); I can't even imagine what state of mind makes it reasonable to stalk someone in an airport during their off hours with their family.

Haha, I know. If I didn't know they make like 50G's for doing one of those cons, I'd feel bad for 'em there, too, but you know, at least that's organized, and they're compensated. It's all cool that they love their fans and want to accommodate them, but how long do you think someone can maintain that attitude if people insist on taking advantage? 'tis sad.
