His movies always were so happy-making. I hate when the happy stories turn so tragic, and that seems more the rule than the exception anymore. So sad. Lost Boys is a classic, though, so he'll never be forgotten.

Argh, fuck it! That's really depressed me!

Sorry, didn't realised that this would hit me like a sled hammer. So many good and bad memories tied up with his movies and the time that he was a star it just started an avalanche.

It's fucking criminal what Hollywood exposes it's child actors too. It truly amazes me that any of them manage to get through to the other side. None of them get through unscathed.

I really feel for his family and friends, it's a horribly distressing thing to have to watch someone totally destroy themselves because of drug addiction. That sense of hopelessness while your loved one slowly kills themselves isn't something that anyone should have to experience.

I'm depressed but thank you for sharing I would have been even sadder if I had found out days later in a public place. At least here I only have to explain to my hubby why I'm suddenly a blubbering mess.

Aww, I'm sorry. *hugs* I know exactly what you mean, though. I didn't find out for years that Jonathan Brandis was dead. Felt like a total tool.

And I don't know that Hollywood's ever going to change. Guess it's just gonna take a new breed of child actor to break the curse.

It's very sad. I actually watched Lost Boys quite recently, and it's a real fave. The scene of him singing falsetto in a bubble bath while his brother vamps out on him and tries to break in always made me laugh.
