I've never done a soundtrack before, but I had a few songs in mind, being that the original prompt was the first song on the track. I started asking around, and who knew there were so many songs that would fit with this story? This is a zip file, about 160MB. All the songs are Sam POV, since that's how the story is written. I hope there are at least a few on here that you haven't heard and learn to love.

Again, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 3rd_leg who sent me or recced me at least half of the songs on this list. Anything that's awesome and not a cheesy 80's song or a chick song was totally hers first.

And the art is all [livejournal.com profile] bittersweet_art. She's amazing! You can snag it here, just don't hotlink, and if there's enough demand, I'll upload it in a zip file for you.

Something Gold soundtrack

Note: This file is missing two songs due to changing computers and whatnot. The missing songs are Susan Enan's "Bring on the Wonder," and Sarah McLachlan's "Witness." I have Witness on my comp, just forgot to put it in the file if anyone desperately wants it, but I can't find Bring on the Wonder anywhere, and it makes me sad, because I love that song.

Heck - I don't know most of this music, but I think I have this physical need to download it. To listen to it. Savor it.

Hell - I don't even know half the artists.

But I trust that this music will fit the tale. Trust that you've selected sounds to enhance the words .. I can hardly wait.

btw - totally unrelated - Latter Days finally downloaded *happy sigh*

Ooh, ooh, just looked at the soundtrack and that is awesome, too! I adore "Frail" and "Day Old Hate," two of my most fave songs EVAH. Yay, going off to download now, though I already have those two songs, ha. I don't have some of the others and look forward to listening.

It is, isn't it? And the music is awesome, too. Available for a limited time only, y'know, because it's cheating, lol.

Ok I just downloaded this soundtrack. And...wow, just wow. Awesome. I love this, I really do. Thank you so much again. For the story, for the songs, the art, everything.
This is one perfect package.
Lots of love.

Thank you! Like I said, I think the soundtrack is my favorite part of the story. It was finished way before the actual fic and many, many times inspired me to keep writing. Each song says something meaningful to me, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. I still have a bunch of bandwidth on this link that I need to use up. I thought about just offering the soundtrack as a fanmix, but there are so many songs specific to the fic. But then, it's great music, and it's free. What more could people want, eh?

Enjoy listening over and over again. I know I will. MWAH!

Ooh, thank you darlin'. I really hope you enjoy it. It sucks me in every time, I turn it on. Let me know if you have any trouble with the links. I think there's still a month of paid time on that sendspace account. MWAH!

Hi, sorry to bother you, I was just wondering where you linked to this from. I'm trying to decide if I should repost it somewhere to use up the bandwidth I paid for or if people are mostly getting it by word of mouth. Thanks!

Um... I think I just got it in the little opening pretty page thingy of the bigbang fic. Along with the chapter links and stuff. Unfortunately I erased my memory for that night, so I can't say for sure. Sorry this isn't very helpful. :)

No worries. LOL. I just wondered if people were linking to the soundtrack from somewhere not attached to the fic, cuz it's good music whether you ship wincest or not. At least, I think so. Enjoy it.

Here's links to two versions of Bring on the Wonder, the first is the original version, the second is the version with Sarah McLachlan, from the Bones soundtrack.

Still downloading the soundtrack (argh slow connection), but thought I should add:

The one song your fic makes me think of, concerning human ingenuity in the face of bleak apocalyptic circumstances is the rough-edged dirge, 'Black Powder and Alcohol' by Leslie Fish. Do you know of it? :)

No, I never heard of that one. I should have a search for it, I think. :D

I'll be honest, it was a pain to find an mp3 copy of it, as it doesn't seem available on CD or iTunes or anything (it came out in 1985 on tape), and even when I'd found it (by accident) the quality seemed a little low, as if it were recorded at a live filking or something.

But if you want it, here it is: http://www.filedropper.com/filk-lesliefish-blackpowderalcohol

Hee! You're awesome! Thank you. A lot of my fave songs are a pain to find, too. It took me forever to get "Unholy, Dirty, and Beautiful," by David Usher, and I had to convert that to .mp3 myself. (Though, I think it's in .m4a or something on the soundtrack, so let me know if it doesn't work for you.)

Downloading now. :D
