Does anyone know the answer to this? I'm sure I could experiment or something, but I'm sure someone already knows.

A lot of people have sticky posts in their journals, as do I. I keep mine dated pretty far in the future so they never actually roll up on the date that they're dated. If the date actually rolls around, do the entries then show up on people's friends pages?

Like, say, if I make a post today that I don't want to show up until next week, would it show up next week on people's f-lists?

I'm just wondering for a story idea. I had this weird sort of P.S. I Love You sort of story where someone uses a blog to communicate from beyond the grave, sort of. Not sure how I'd do it, either someone because wildly popular on the internet because of some sort of insane crap they post in their journals and it turns out they've been dead for months... or God is a blogger... or someone is trapped and dying, knows no one will ever be able to find his body, because he doesn't even know where he is, and posts encouragements and endearments to friends and loved ones so that it seems like he's always there and they don't worry about him...

Urgh, that's depressing.

Anyway, does anyone know if it works that way? If not on LJ then on another site, maybe?

Yep it will show up on our flists on whatever date you post-date it for :)

Your brain has the most creative ideas, btw :P

EEEeeeee! That's good to know. I've had all these post mortem posting ideas come to my mind, and it always kinda hinges on whether the posts show up when you post them. You saved me actually having to do an experiment, cuz lord knows, I don't need another excuse to procrastinate, LOL.

Is it sad, though, that I was reminded of this idea when I saw the story on the news about the nineteen-year-old who committed suicide online while everyone watched? *is sad*

MWAH!

So...if it works in the future does it work going backwards too? Can you date it for a time in the past and have it appear in order with the posts from that time? Just wondering.

Also, I was very sad about the young man who killed himself online. It is tragic that he felt like he had no other options left. I find it gruesome for people to have tuned in to that and laughed but I also have to wonder what I would have done if I came across something like that. How can you tell when it is for real or just somebody being stupid and not funny pulling a hoax?

I believe so, but don't quote me on that.

And yes, that was so... yes, tragic. I don't know what I would've done either. I almost imagine everyone's thinking that someone who knew him better was making the judgment about whether he was serious. Still not an excuse, I guess. Everyone failed there.
