I'll put it behind a cut just in case anyone hasn't seen all of season 4 yet.



So, what does Sam know about Dean's part in the Apocalypse? Has he mentioned anything about breaking the first seal or stopping Lucifer?

Would kinda suck if he and Dean got separated without Sam finding that stuff out, cuz then he'd be thinking he brought on the Apocalypse all on his own. Poor Sammy. *pets*

Ah, our boys do enjoy a heavy burden, don't they?

I've seen fics where Dean tells Sam he was the first seal, so I think he didn't mention in canon, or at least not onscreen, but I could be wrong.

I don't think it's actually mentioned on-screen so I don't think we should assume that Sam knows. Remember when Sam mentioned he had demon blood and Dean was shocked that he'd known about it, hadn't said anything? It hadn't even occured to me that Sam had kept that a secret but I'm betting that Kripke jumped all over the fact that it was never said on-screen to add one more thing to the list of secrets that Sam had been keeping. Hope that made sense.

I don't think he's ever asked. I mean Dean tells him pretty much everything, but I don't know that he'd have told him that.

Other than when Sam hallucinated Dean in the panic room where Bobby and real-Dean were keeping him, I think that Dean said something like "Sam you know it has to be me to stop this..." but I could have hallucinated some of that myself...it's so difficult sometimes to pull apart what I wanted to hear from what I actually did hear.

Well, judging from past episodes, Dean cannot keep a secret. At all. Even if his life depended on it. Or his sanity. Or, you know, he should just not tell anyone he's been touched by an angel.
But he can't keep secrets from Sam. Or won't. Whatever. He's a big giant girl when it comes to these things, so he most definitely told Sam. And then hated himself cuz he wasn't strong enough and he's weak and pathetic and Sam hates him... *pets and squishes Dean*

I don't think Sam knows, because in 4.21 hallucination!Dean said, "God picked me, man." So as far as Sam seems to know, Dean was supposed to stop the apocalypse from happening because he was chosen, not because he was the first seal...
