Wow, I feel like I haven't posted in forever, but it actually hasn't been so long. But I'm not sure I've actually made a journal entry in awhile anyway. No real news, anyway, because there really isn't any, but that's not to say good things aren't happening.

Um, apparently that little fic I wrote last week got recced on [livejournal.com profile] crack_impala. I find that incredibly flattering. I mean, it's not the first time, but I usually get weirded out by recs in general. I just find this amusing, because I haven't written Gen in awhile, and I thought I'd never, ever see the day where a Gen fic I posted broke three pages. (Though, I think maybe Dean Reads would have if I hadn't disabled the comments on that one.) And I really was sure this one made no sense to anyone but me. I'm soooo happy people actually got what I was going for there. (Also, not surprised that I broke three pages on LJ and got like 11 on ff.net. Whole different audience over there.)

So, that's good writing news. Bad writing news is, bigbang is really floundering. I have sooo many ideas for scenes but no real idea how to link them into a cohesive plot. And I dunno. It just scares me. My guess is it's around 11 or 12000 words now. I just added 3000 more words this morning, but I hate them all. *sigh* Sadly, I'm way more excited to write the Overboard fic. But I cannot! Deadline! Bleh.

Had a couple of ideas for fic. I've been wanting to write an AU with horses in it for quite some time but could never think of a good slant to put on it. I'm thinking Jensen's like a teaching tech at a university and Jared's one of those lifers who takes up every elective there is because he can't decide on a major. And Jared was maybe a Pony Clubber as a kid and decided to take the horse classes, ends up in Jensen's colt starting class. Yes, there are Colt Starting classes. And Jensen won't take him seriously because Jared seems incapable of taking anything seriously, blah, blah, blah, you can see where that's going, yes?

And then I kinda wanna do an AU Wife Swap fic. J2 are married and want to go on Wife Swap, that show where they take two families and swap out wives for two weeks. Now, I think it'd be kinda funny for Jared to show up on someone's doorstep who's expecting to see another woman. That part of the story is pretty straightforward, I think. But the thing is, there's always something to be learned both ways when they do those swaps. So, what would the woman coming to stay with Jensen for two weeks bring to the mix? I don't want to go with the whole religion thing, because that's been done to death. And those shows are usually about how they raise kids or how they clean their houses. I dunno. Maybe Jensen and Jared have a daughter and the other wife helps them relate to her? *shrugs*

Anywho, I'm just writing this fast off the top of my head while the dogs are out to pee, and then I have to shower and go to sleep. Have to get up in a couple of hours to go get the car out the shop. We brought it in on Monday so that it would be done by yesterday at the latest, and yesterday evening they hadn't even started it. I have to have it for work today, and Dan needs the truck for his work. Why didn't they just say they didn't have the part?

On another note, the strangest thing happened to me the other day. I was at work... working, and I thought about the future. I mean, like actually thought about what I'd like to do with my life, which I haven't done in at least five years. Mostly I just hope to get through the day. But out of the blue I was thinking about moving, about original fiction I want to write, about finishing up my horses and selling them so I didn't have that financial drain. I even dug out my saddle and bridle and cleaned and oiled them yesterday. I don't know if this is a sign of things turning around or just rampant boredom, but hey, it was a nice feeling for a change.

Completely random, I find it funny that someone comes to mod a popular comm and three or four other comms for basically the same thing pop up in the same day. *shakes head*

And that's about it. I think I'm rewriting Go Fish as original fiction and maybe the Guitar Hero fic, so here's you heads up in case they disappear sometime in the future.

Now, the dogs are scratching at the door, so to bed with me!

MWAH!

I saw your rec on [livejournal.com profile] crack_impala! I was excited for you! :):) It was a great story though, so you deserved it.

Heh, I hear you on the LJ vs. ff.net thing. I can have something popular over here and it does nothing over there. I think I've only had, like, one (maybe?) story that's done well on both LJ and ff.net. Just like you said, though, whole different crowd you're trying to please over that way.

Sorry to hear that your BigBang's having some issues. Have you guys had to turn in a rough draft or anything like that yet? (I don't keep track of those timelines, so that's probably a silly question. :/) I hope your muse works its way back to you. Too, I know you're doing a partnered BigBang, so I hope this doesn't seem too intrusive, but if you need somebody to bounce ideas off from, I'd be more than happy to help brainstorm. But, again, good luck. :)

Yeah, ff.net is all about fluff and fixing 'em rather than the nitty gritty dirt of the situation. A lot of comments I get are either anonymous or from people who don't have a lot of Supernatural fic in their faves. Different breed of readers, indeed.

And the bigbang. I dunno. I keep thinking of cool scenes, different facets of the weird and whacked out world we're creating, and they hit a lot of my kinks as a reader and a writer, but I worry it's going to all sound convoluted and make no sense. Plus, Sam's just NOT Sam in this story, and I think that will just drive people away from the get go. I mean, I try to write him twisted and evil but still funny, because it seems like that's the way bad guys are in Supernatural universe, but I worry it'll just come off as cheesy cracky stupid. That, and it's just not flowing. Every word is work. Now, granted my bigbang was like that last year, too, but at least that one had UST and schmoop on the horizon. This one.. I don't know if people will see anything on the horizon worthy of sticking around for. *is afeared*

Yup. *nods*

I can see your worry about Sam not being Sam in the story. I'd think, like, if you were to say how he got to that place, the readers would be more likely to go along with it. I'm sorry that it's such work for you, though. Here's hoping it all goes smoother. *cheers you on*

I been missing you honey ... nice to see an update.

I like that wife swap idea, I really do. Maybe she can make Jensen see Jared in a whole new light. Maybe the boys have been together so long Jensen doesn't see there being any surprises, maybe the other couple make Jared and Jensen realise just how truly fortunate to have each other (because maybe the other couple don't love each other any more), or maybe they have kids and her talking about parenthood to Jensen and Jared having to deal with them in person, actually makes them think that that's what's been missing in their lives. They thought they were happy but realise there's a way to be even happier but, when they are reunited they're unsure how to broach the subject with the other one because they both agreed they never wanted kids.

And now I'm getting carried away - but then that's par for the course when you post isn't it? I'm more verbose in your journal than my own at times.

And wasn't there going to be a sequel to Go Fish? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

Ooh, now that you mention it, the whole point of Wife Swap is both to learn some new perspective but also to clue husbands in about how much they need their wives, LOL. I wonder in which way Jensen could be sort of taking Jared for granted. I mean, I always like to think Jensen's good with kids, but maybe I could write him differently for just one fic. But I dont' want him to be the jackass husband you wish would just stfu either. Hmmmmmmmm.

I dunno about a sequel to Go Fish. Someone once suggested a cracky Fish POV version. LOL. That would be cute.

I've been missing you, too. *clings*

I love both of your fic ideas. I hope the Pony is just a figure of speech since I don't think a pony could carry Jared :)

Thanks for the heads up!

And I like that you're thinking about the future. My future looks better with you in it.
