Die, Spam bots! Die!!!!

I woke up from a very long nap, opened up my email, and had seven, count 'em seven, friend notifications. I suspected from the names that they were spam bots. So, I clicked on the first one, took a good hard look at the profile, particularly the friends, found I had two shared friends. Then, looked in the journal, all of it in Russian or something, and promptly, reported the bot.

Went to the next one. Similar looking userpic, same exact two shared friends as well as entire f-list.

By the fourth one, there was a long sob story on the profile page about how she was a student in Maine, had chronic health issues, including a brain tumor... and yet entire journal in Russian, same matching friends, same unmatching friends.

By the time I worked my way through all seven, there was an eighth in my inbox.

I reported them all. But really, what are they accomplishing? Someone explain to me? Are they just waiting for me to click on their profile and recording that as a hit to their website somewhere? Because it is annoying.

I'm never leaving LJ, but I still do have one Dreamwidth code if anyone else wants it.

Also, prepare for a day of Spam, cuz I done slept through yesterday and have to make up for it. LOL.

Polls?

Anyone have any advice as to why the polls sometimes work and sometimes not? I've created a huge poll, and when I post it, all the options show up, but no voting buttons or boxes. I've tried everything I can think of... suggestions? Anyone?

Angst over our bigbang story and how it ties in to the show.

chocca2 and I have been tossing ideas back and forth for awhile now. Basically, the story is written, but the backstory is not. And given the way that Season Four ended, it's very important to us that we keep Sam a sympathetic character, despite what we plan for him to do in the story. So, the backstory, to me, is important. And I do plan to infuse it into the story once I figure out what it is.

So, we need help from all of you, since you'll be the ones reading it. Okay, so most of you probably won't given that it's a Gen story, but you can still help us with the characterization, or at least keep us from doing something you'll absolutely hate.

I tried to create a poll, but it would not post for me. I sent the code to my dear cowriter, and she posted it for me. Yay!
