I was kind of hoping Cas would show up to help them at the end, and it would justified her "angels are watching over you" bit. (This was of course before the episode aired and the mind wipe ensued.) But I do believe it was a subconscious thing; no way the Mary before was that religious. Her reaction to angels themselves pretty much proved that.
